How to calculate your MPG
- Fill the tank Fill your fuel tank completely and note the odometer reading, or reset a trip meter to zero.
- Drive, then refill Drive normally until you next refuel, then fill the tank completely again.
- Record miles and gallons Note the miles driven since the last fill-up and the number of gallons it took to refill.
- Enter the numbers Enter the miles driven and the gallons used above — your MPG is the miles divided by the gallons.
